Happy Hour Las Vegas Locals

Growing up in Las Vegas, I’ve always been aware and present in every change the city underwent, even at a young age. When I was born, the town had shifted to more of a theme park-esque playground. One that invited the entire family to join in on the fun. Martin Scorsese’s Casino highlighted this fact; at the film’s end, Robert De Niro’s character Sam “Ace” Rothstein, based on real-life casino executive and mob associate Frank Rosenthal, stated, “..the big corporations took it all over. Today, it looks like Disneyland.” And for most of my childhood as a Las Vegas Local, this was true. Almost every hotel had some theme or schtick; if they didn’t, they had an aquarium or zoo that entertained us. On the strip, you still have some of the best restaurants in the world, but it is a big deal if you make a reservation. It wasn’t something you could do every week or even every month. Vegas was known for ayce buffets, which had its place and grip on the public for a long time, but we no longer care to gorge ourselves in that manner. You also had a never-ending list of Italian restaurants, some of which still stand today and hold a special place in my memories. We can thank the mob for this extensive variety of cuisine.

Vegas is changing again. The public is craving more accessibility to new food. The famous and celebrity chefs of Las Vegas who worked and made their bones on the strip have packed their knives and opened a new spot around the corner just for you and me. New flavors, techniques, and methods are now available to satisfy our appetites and pleasures. The term “Happy Hour” has now extended from the bar to the entire restaurant, and this change is birthed out of a new desire to invite guests to taste a little of what the chef has to offer.

Happy hour before meant some cheap beer made even more affordable with somewhat ok wings and a reheated plate of sliders. This is no longer the standard. Now you can sip on cocktails made special by bartenders who take the craft to new levels, and food prepared by a kitchen that places importance on quality, all at a fraction of their regular prices. Eating out no longer has to break the bank. Settling for the same restaurant and menu over and over again is a thing of the past. There is nothing wrong with returning to places that serve you well. I find myself revisiting childhood spots like Thai BBQ and Villa Pizza. They are staples and institutions that never disappoint me. But I would like to expand my horizons and try new things and that means thinking like a local and discovering new Happy Hour for Las Vegas locals.

With so many options, how can one narrow down what we want to eat? Well, that is why Happy Hour Vegas exists. It’s another tool that is needed here for the public’s benefit. We at Happy Hour Vegas will do all of the heavy “lifting” for you. I put quotes around lifting because what we are doing is going to all of these happy hours and giving you an objective outlook on all the restaurants in Sin City. We’re not food critics or influencers; we’re Tastemakers. All of the information on a particular restaurant’s food, drinks, hours, prices, and ambiance will be described so that you can make the most informed decision for your next happy hour in Las Vegas.

Growing up here, Las Vegas didn’t have much of a soul. The theme parks are slowly leaving. You ate and gambled as much as you could, and then you left, but it is now finding its soul through food, and we’re all part of it whether we like it or not.

So join us for happy hour and discover some of the best Las Vegas Happy Hours. We’d love to show you the variety Las Vegas now has to offer, one little bite, one hour at a time.
