Ask your server about the daily food and drink specials โ if you’re not sure, try the Taverna Burger and a Beer at $16, a 6oz black Angus patty, American cheese, pickled onions, tomato, lettuce, brioche bun, secret sauce, fries. Chef Chris Mahon built his reputation on a Maui food truck that made national top-100 lists twice, so the Island flavors here aren’t a gimmick.
Taverna Costera anchors the north end of the Arts District with a rooftop bar overlooking First Friday, live music in the courtyard, and a genuinely local following โ the owner’s a local musician who supports the neighborhood’s events. Two happy hour windows a day means you can catch the deal before First Friday gets going or after the crowds thin out. It’s proof the Arts District’s dining scene has room for something unexpected, not just wine bars and galleries.
