Fontainebleau is more formal and prix fixe in its orientation — the full experience at full price. For an upscale afternoon on the north Strip Resorts World is the better happy hour destination. For a special occasion dinner or a luxury hotel stay Fontainebleau is the stronger choice.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas opened in December 2023 after one of the most dramatic development stories in Las Vegas history. Construction began in 2007 but the project stalled during the 2008 financial crisis and sat unfinished for over a decade — an incomplete tower on the north Strip that became a symbol of Vegas’s boom-and-bust cycle. It was eventually completed and opened under new ownership as one of the tallest buildings in Nevada. The finished product is genuinely impressive and worth seeing even if you’re staying elsewhere.
